Everything on this site is a public record. That is not the same as saying everything public should be assembled, indexed and put in front of a search engine. These are the lines, and the reasoning behind each one.
Florida restricts commercial use of booking photographs, and a mugshot gallery is the fastest way to turn a civic tool into a reputational and legal liability. This is a policy line, not a data-availability one — the images exist and we will not use them.
The site is addressed by property, not by people. A current owner name appears because it is on the deed and the deed is a public record. There is no way to search this site for a person, and the address API rejects any query that is not an address with a house number.
An arrest without a disposition is defamation-adjacent and reputationally toxic. Calls for service aggregated to a street are a legitimate civic signal; "who was arrested" is not one we will publish.
Every call is reduced to a block or an intersection at write time, before it is stored. There is no raw address in the database to leak, and no code path that could render one. The transform is tested against the entire live feed on every run of the test suite.
Fla. Stat. § 119.071(4)(d) exempts the home addresses of law enforcement officers, judges, prosecutors, domestic violence victims and others. A suppressed parcel is removed from search, from the dossier and from every aggregate, and a suppressed folio is indistinguishable from a folio that does not exist — so its existence cannot be confirmed by probing.
The site publishes records, tables, maps and its own analysis. It does not rewrite anyone else’s journalism and it does not generate prose and present it as reporting.
Each one names the dataset it came from and when that dataset was last refreshed. Stale data presented as current is the specific failure that would make this site harmful rather than useful.
Errors in the source data propagate here, and we will be the ones who hear about it. The correction route is on the contact page and reachable from every dossier, and suppression requests are actioned within 48 hours.
The only address stored is the one already in the county record. Nothing you type is retained.
Email suppress@sunshinefile.com with the address. You do not need to explain why, you do not need to prove an exemption, and we will not argue. The parcel is suppressed within 48 hours and stays suppressed.
